Privacy policy
The short version
- We collect what our games need to run, handle purchases through the app stores, show the ads you choose to watch, and improve our games.
- You don't need to give us your real name, and we never see your payment card details.
- Your game progress is saved on your device. We don't keep a copy.
- Ad partners may use your device's advertising ID to choose which ads you see. You can turn that off.
- You can ask what we hold about you, get a copy, or have it deleted, at any time.
Who we are
Blank Slater is an independent mobile game studio, run by Blank Slater LLC, 952 Winchester Rd., Unit #360, Lexington, KY 40505 ("Blank Slater", "we", "us").
This policy covers our mobile game Baled It! (and any we release later), the services that support it, our customer support, and this website. Questions about it go to support@blankslatergames.com.
What we collect
What you give us
- Support messages. If you email us: your email address, your message, and anything you include, such as your player ID, screenshots or device model.
- A player name, if a game lets you choose one. It stays on your device.
- Your age group. The first time you open a game, it asks your age once. It keeps only your age group (under 13, 13 to 17, or 18 and over), never your birth year.
- Launch email sign ups on this website: your email address.
What the games collect as you play
- Player ID. A random ID the game creates the first time you open it. It isn't linked to your name.
- Game progress, saved on your device so you can keep playing.
- Gameplay events, such as levels reached, features used, ads watched and purchases made, so we can see what works and balance the game. These are only sent where your age group allows it, and never include your player name or anything you type.
- Device information: device model, operating system, language, game version, and an identifier the game creates for your device.
- Advertising ID, only where you allow it (on iPhone, the game asks first).
- Approximate location: the country or region your connection comes from, worked out from your IP address. Never your precise location.
- Purchase records: what you bought, when, the price, and the store's transaction ID.
- Crash reports, if you allow your device to share them: technical details about a crash and your device, which Apple and Google pass on to us so we can fix it.
What others tell us
- Apple and Google confirm your purchases.
- Our ad partner tells us which ads were shown and watched, so we can give you the reward.
- Our analytics provider sends us reports built from gameplay events.
- The app stores: if we advertise a game, the app stores tell us which campaign (if any) led to an install.
What we don't collect
- Your precise location (GPS or similar).
- Your contacts, photos, files, camera or microphone.
- Your real name, date of birth, phone number or postal address, unless you choose to send them to support.
- Your payment card details. Apple and Google handle payment.
- What you do in other apps or websites, beyond what your device's advertising ID allows ad partners to see.
- Sensitive information such as health, ethnicity, religion, politics or biometrics.
How we use it
- To run the games and save your progress on your device.
- To handle purchases: deliver and restore what you bought, and keep records for tax.
- To show the ads you choose to watch and give you the reward.
- To understand and improve the games.
- To fix crashes and stop fraud.
- To answer you when you contact support.
- To follow the law, for example tax rules or a valid legal request.
What other players can see
Our games don't currently show any of your information to other players. If we add online features, we'll update this policy first.
Ads
Ads in our games are optional: they play when you choose to watch one for a reward. Each game's section below says how ads work in that game.
When an ad plays, our ad partner receives information about your device, such as its advertising ID (if you allow it), IP address, model, language and rough location, so it can choose an ad, measure it and prevent fraud. If you allow it, ads may be personalised to your interests. Our ad partner may load ads in advance, so it can receive this information when the game starts, even if you never watch one.
Some ad partners use the information they receive under their own privacy policies. Their policies are linked in the table under "Who we share it with".
You can control this at any time:
- iPhone and iPad: the game asks before it can use your advertising ID. To change your answer, go to Settings, Privacy and Security, Tracking.
- Android: Settings, Google (or Privacy), Ads, then delete or reset your advertising ID.
- In the game's settings: a "Don't sell or share my data" option turns off personalised ads and stops your information being shared with ad partners for advertising, wherever you live. For players under 18 it is always on.
If you say no, you can still watch ads for rewards. They will just be less relevant.
Where it is stored
Our service providers store and process information in the United States and other countries where they operate.
How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it, then delete it or make it anonymous.
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Game progress, player ID and player name | On your device only, until you delete the game. We don't keep a copy. |
| Gameplay analytics, held by our analytics provider | Individual gameplay events: 13 months, then deleted automatically. Summary statistics and the analytics profile for your player ID: until you ask us to delete them. |
| Purchase records | 7 years, as tax and accounting law requires. |
| Support emails | 2 years after your request is resolved, so we can see your support history. |
| Crash reports | Held by Apple and Google under their own policies. |
| Launch email list | Until you unsubscribe. |
We may keep something longer only where the law requires it, or to resolve a dispute. If you ask us to delete your data, we do it sooner. See Your rights and choices.
Keeping it safe
Information travels between the games and our service providers encrypted. Only the people who need it to run the games can reach it, and we require our service providers to protect it too.
No system is perfectly secure, so we also collect as little as we can. If a breach ever affects your information, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Your progress is saved on your device. If you delete the game or lose your phone, we can't recover it.
Automated checks
We use automatic checks to confirm purchases with Apple or Google. If a purchase can't be confirmed and you think that's wrong, email us and a person will review it.
Children
Our games are made for teens and adults and are not directed at children under 13.
The first time you open one of our games, it asks your age once and keeps only your age group (under 13, 13 to 17, or 18 and over), never your birth year. For players under 13, the game sends no analytics and never shows personalised ads. For players under 18, ads are never personalised, and the "Don't sell or share my data" setting is always on.
We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without a parent's consent. If we learn we have, we delete it. Parents can contact us at support@blankslatergames.com to ask what we hold or to have it deleted.
Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- show you what information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete it;
- stop or limit a use you object to, or withdraw consent you gave earlier;
- stop personalised ads (see Ads).
To delete your data, email support@blankslatergames.com with the player ID from the game's Settings, and tell us which game it's for. We delete everything we hold for that player ID, including the gameplay analytics our analytics provider, Unity, keeps for us. Deleting the game deletes your saved progress, because it's stored only on your device.
For any other request, email the same address with your player ID and the game. The game's "Send feedback" button adds your player ID for you. Because your player ID is the only thing that links you to the information we hold, we need it to find your data.
We reply within 45 days. For complicated requests we may need up to 45 more, and we'll tell you if so. Using your rights is free, and we won't treat you differently for using them. A copy of your data comes in a common, machine readable format. We may keep information the law requires us to keep, such as purchase records.
California and other US states
In the past 12 months we collected these categories: identifiers (player ID, device and advertising identifiers, IP address, and your email address if you contacted us or signed up for launch emails), purchase records, gameplay and device activity, approximate location, and inferences used only to run the games (such as how far you've progressed). We collect them from you, your device, the app stores and our ad and analytics partners, for the purposes listed in "How we use it". We don't collect sensitive personal information. You have the right to know, delete and correct, and to opt out of "selling" or "sharing" for personalised ads. You can use an authorised agent; we will ask them to show your permission.
This website doesn't track you, so it has nothing to switch off when your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. In the games, use the "Don't sell or share my data" setting or your device's ad settings.
This website
This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or ad trackers. Our host, Cloudflare, processes your IP address and basic request details (such as your browser type and the page you asked for) to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, and keeps them only briefly.
If you sign up for launch emails, your address is stored by our email provider, Kit, and used only to send those emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.
Baled It!
Your progress is saved on your device only, and we don't keep a copy. Deleting the game deletes it, and on Android it isn't included in your phone's backups. We can't recover lost progress.
Your player ID is a random ID the game creates the first time you open it. You can find it in Settings, with a button to copy it. It isn't linked to your player name. The "Send feedback" button adds it to your email for you.
Your player name: players type their own name in their profile and can change it at any time. It stays on your device, and nobody else sees it.
Analytics: Baled It! uses Unity Gaming Services Analytics, only for players whose age group allows it. It never sends your player name or anything you type.
Ads are optional. They only play when you choose to watch one, for Boost or Collect x2.
Settings has the "Don't sell or share my data" option and a link to this policy.
Everything else in this policy applies to Baled It! as written.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your information in a meaningful way, we will tell you before it takes effect, in the game, on its app store listing or on this page, and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
